Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 62 and Thoughts on Exercise being Fun!

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 62

I view today as a great success.  My Saturday morning weight in resulted in another 2 lbs lost for a total of 23.1 since the start of the challenge and just under 30 lbs from my top weight in July.  It was hard just to climb the stairs to my bedroom a few short months ago.  I now look at forgetting something upstairs and an opportunity instead of a serious drag.  It is more than 2 sets of stairs each way, funny I look at it as practice for the stair climbing challenge at Team Fitness.

On that note the workout today at Team Fitness was great.  I really feel my muscles and I have come to look forward to that feeling.  Makes me feel like I am going forward, one step closer to my goal.  After the challenge Wes treated us to muscle milk.  First time I had it.  I am not a big fan of chocolate milk but I actually enjoyed it.  Might be a good snack replacement now and then.  Katherine, Tristan and I have really connected.  I am really hoping at the end of next month when this challenge is done that we can still workout together, we have all really just begun!

After the boot camp I spent another 30 minutes on the treadmill.  Suppose to be the best time to do cardio!  You would think that I would be done after 1 hour of getting my ass handed to me but I really enjoy doing the treadmill afterwards.

Now I am trying to decide how I am going to get the burn in tomorrow!!

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 61

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 61

Today was a tough day.  Not diet wise, just life wise. I stayed up late last night studying for my final exam.  I kept waking up and each time I was reciting answers to questions I had studied, really quite sad that my brain never shuts down.  Too bad my metabolism didn't work that way.

I think the exam went well.  It was weird because we got to write it in pairs.  I need to be able to show that I can work well in a team but between you and me I really prefer to do assignments and exams on my own.  My partner was great though.  If I had to work in a team I am glad I got Mike.

Not too much to say about the fitness plan to day.  I stuck to plan food wise, I worked out a lot this week.  I feel good about how the week went.  I initially went down 2 lbs but not sure if I still have those numbers.  It would only be fluid retention if I don't.

My younger son headed off to North Van Outdoor School tonight for the weekend.  He is learning how to be a councillor for when the elementary school kids attend.  Funny he has been talking about becoming a councillor for years. He was trying on some of his fleece outdoor gear.  His Arcteryx fleece jacket was too small.  I said give it to me in a couple of months it will fit me well.  I got the "sure I will believe it when I see it" look.  I deserve that, I have been trying to lose this weight for years.  I always fail eventually, but not this time.  I looked at my husband and stated... you know this time is different.  I am committed to this program and I will be successful.  He said " I know you are, I can tell."  That felt good.

Welcome to My Persona Fitness Challenge Day 60 and thoughts on progress after 2 months

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 60

Wow, day 60 already.  It seems like yesterday that we all started and yet I really thought I would be a lot further along in the process.  I have stuck to the meal plan and I have attended nearly all the boot camps and done extra exercise each and every week since the start.  I am very proud of my 22.1 lbs. and more than 23 inches lost.  I feel better, I feel stronger.  I just really thought I could be the new biggest loser in 90 days at Team Fitness but with only 30 days to go and 23lbs to lose to achieve that goal it is looking very unlikely.  We chatted about that tonight at the boot camp.  I was told "don't give up!"  Don't worry, I will not give up until I reach my goal.  I won't be the biggest loser in 90 days but I will be successful.  I have not had this determination or drive losing weight ever before, this will be the time I reach goal.

Good workout with Sarah leading Tristan, Lauren, Sharon and I tonight.  Parts were easier than others but I really found laying on my back, hips raised and trying to move the ball back and forth with my legs the hardest.  I guess between the Sat and Sun boot camps at Team Fitness and the Zumba Tues and Yoga Weds I have just burned those muscles up!  Oh well, no pain no gain.  I am already looking forward to Saturday's workout.

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 59 and thoughts on Yoga and Advil.

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 59

Today was another good day.  Woke up and started my day by standing on the little metal box in my bathroom.  It was good to me.  Down another 1 lb. for a total of 22.1 lbs. since the start of the challenge.  I feel good about that.  In one sense time is going by so quickly, in another sense it feels like this journey will take forever.  In any case I am sticking to the plan and trying to figure out different ways to move my body more so I just keep moving forward and downward (weight wise).

Zumba last night and yoga today at lunch time.  It was a tough one today.  Many push ups and planks, lots of time spent on my knees.  Like everything else, I am going to stick to it until I rock it.  So hard now but my muscles are sore and I have a lot of weight to hold up.  As I get stronger and smaller I will become unstoppable!

Short post today, not only are my muscles sore from exercising but my brain hurts from my day at work and my attempt at studying for my exam on Friday.  On top of that my monthly visitor is here and the discomfort from that is out of this world.  Too much info?  Thank God for Advil.

Looking forward to my Team Fitness Boot Camp tomorrow!  See you there team!!

Welcome To My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 58 and Thoughts on adding extra Cardio to your week.

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 58 and Thoughts on adding extra Cardio to your week.

I am so determined to get this weight off, I started my day at the Hall today. Most of my HR team had not seen me in a while and mentioned they noticed a difference.  Keep it coming ladies, I can't hear it too often!

There was a birthday celebration for one of my team members.  There was the most delicious "looking" carrot cake and lots of fruit.  When I told my boss the carrot cake only sounded more healthy than the chocolate cake he gave me a friendly jester that confirmed he knew I was right!  LOL  We also chatted about sweet potato chips, zucchini chips and other recipes.  Kind of cool that he is into all the healthy eating too.

Sunday and Monday I was up in weight compared to my Saturday morning weigh in.  I have come to expect that though.  I thought to myself, I have a lot of exercise planned this week it will have no where else to go but away!  The little metal box was kind to me today though, down a pound from the Saturday workout!      I knew it had to start turning around.

I was so stressed by the end of the day today.  The old me would have gone home, had dinner and a couple glasses of wine while spending the rest of the evening on the couch.  The new me thought about the red wine and got changed into my workout gear and headed to meet Glenda at Zumba.

It was my first Zumba class ever.  It was really good exercise and an excellent way to add cardio to my weekly fitness routine.  I had a really hard time following all the moves but it really was great exercise in any event.  There was a lot of arm and leg work, exactly were the muscles were worked at Team Fitness on Sat and Sun.  It worked well on my stress too.  We invited the instructor to join our boot camp at Team Fitness, she might just do that!

Losing weight is not an easy journey but for anyone out there wondering what to do you need to know if I can do this you can too.  I have tried and failed so many times.  Being part of this challenge has been what I needed and now I feel like I am going to go all the way.

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 57

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 57

Well today was a good day spent the morning doing housework and then headed to Chilliwack to have dinner and a visit with the in-laws.  Both my boys came with and it was a really great visit.  Thanks Stella for making all the things I could eat right on plan.  I have to say I would have loved to dip into the spaghetti squash mixed with butter and parmesan cheese and the butter buns.  Oh well, I wasn't really tempted, I still have my mind on the goal.  We really enjoyed our visit,  we really should do that more often!

When we got home the house smelled awesome.  My Dad was busy baking while we were away.  He made a cake and two egg and bacon pies.  The cake was not a temptation but boy I love the egg and bacon pie.  The family will be eating those for dinner tomorrow night, hopefully while I am at Zumba!

I did Sarah's Sunday morning boot camp in place of the workout today.  We would have been really late getting to Chilliwack if I had gone to the workout, but I found myself wishing I had gone, even felt a little guilty.  Oh well, Zumba tomorrow, Yoga on Wednesday and back to TF on Thursday.

My son's hockey game at North Shore Winter club was interesting.  There was very little time played 5 on 5.  There was penalty after penalty and even a huge fight.  That happened the last time we played there too.  Sometimes I think the private clubs are just a bit to arrogant.  On to West Van Hollyburn on Wednesday!  I like watching them play.  It's just a different game when your son is on the ice.

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 56 and Thoughts on Exercise, Dehydrated Chips and eating out.

Welcome to My Personal Fitness Challenge Day 56

Woke up early this morning to get my younger son, hubby and Dad off to the ferry for a morning hockey game in Gibsons.  I stayed home so I could attend Sarah's Sunday morning boot camp.  With muscles still sore from the Empire State Building challenge the day before I arrived at Team Fitness ready to go.  It was a different feeling than normal.  I did not know or recognize any of these boot camp attendees and I was the only person who was overweight.  It didn't feel as warm and fuzzy as working out with the TF+ team but they were all friendly and I can see me fitting in the group after a few more sessions with them.

Good thing there are lighter options on some of the stations.  I could not do the hard version on 2 of them and some of the other stations really worked my already sore muscles. I felt like I fit in though. Thanks to Sarah for inviting me to attend!  I can't come on Monday, the time just does not work.  This way I still get the workout in.  I have Zumba on Tuesday with Glenda, looking forward to that and Yoga on Wednesday at lunch, back to TF on Thursday. Should have a good with this week!  Funny thing how my brain is changing under the influence of good eating and regular exercise.  I used to dread moving my body, walking biking or whatever the activity was.  Now I can't wait to push myself, to feel the burn and to enjoy the feeling of recovery in my muscles.  I got kind of excited thinking about riding my mountain bike again.  I really enjoy it but I stopped because it wasn't fun and it got to hard.  Now I think I could rock it again!!

Bought the stuff for homemade flax seed crackers, looking into homemade hummus. (What is the story with Tahini, some like it some don't? ) I finally got around to making my Sweet Potato and Zucchini chips and they are fantastic!  Love my mandoline slicer, now I am looking for other things to slice up and dehydrate.

Looking forward to dinner with thin In-Laws tomorrow night.  I'm interested to see how it will fit into my plan.  I 'll keep you posted.
